Friday tech news roundup for February 13
New View-Master for the 21st century, your car may be more of a security risk than you think, Dr. Google is in and will see you now, and Dell Venue 8 tablet reviews are in. Also, fitness wearables are as good as smartphones at tracking steps, Apple makes some good App Store updates, and set a "legacy contact" for your Facebook page. And, just for fun, check out a Severus Snape "mini-movie."
POP3 and IMAP – What are they?
POP and IMAP are two different email delivery methods that operate quite differently. One lets you access ALL your emails on every device you have, and one does not. Learn how each method works so you can set up your devices and email clients to work the way you'd like them to!
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Dominoes
Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs has ended up being praised as Clapton’s greatest work of his career. If you look the album up on Wikipedia, you’ll find nothing but 5 star and A+ ratings. It’s that good. And for $5 bucks, how can you pass that up? It’s music history and this album is an icon.
Seen on Pinterest: Chocolate Decadence, Oh My
February, thanks to both Mardis Gras and Valentine's Day, gives us multiple excuses to indulge in some decadent chocolate desserts (and hey, it's not swim suit season yet!). We've pulled together twelve different, and equally yummy looking, recipes you'll want to try.
Weekly tech news roundup for February 6
Mattel and Google are playing nicely together, RadioShack is closing down, and Raspberry Pi 2 was just introduced. A new product promises you'll never lose anything again, Swatch is coming out with a smartwatch (that doesn't need charging!), and more in this week's tech news.
Breaking Bad lawyer in new spin-off series
Don’t make any plans for Feb. 8-9. Remember Saul Goodman, the wily lawyer who kept Walter White and a bunch of other villains out of jail on “Breaking Bad”? Well, he’s back with his own television show, “Better Call Saul,” on AMC.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Gorillaz
The Gorillaz are a band with real musicians making music, but their stage presence is strictly virtual. The self-titled Gorillaz album dropped in March of 2001 and it’s been featured on lists like "albums to listen to before you die" and “best albums of all time,” and “best albums of 2001.” It has a different sound, but it's also has an irresistible quality to it. If you go into it with an open mind, I think you’ll come away wondering what you just heard, but also wanting to hear it again.
Weekly tech news roundup for Friday, January 30
This week: Reviews of Amazon's Echo are in, compare the best password managers, and check out Prynt—a photo printer for your phone (modern day Polaroids!). All this in and more in today's tech news roundup. The Apple Watch is coming in April (not March), 3D printing could help fix damaged windpipes, and BMW has an awesome ad you need to see. All this and more in this week's tech news roundup.
Data Privacy Day: safeguard your personal information and digital footprint
Today is International Data Privacy Day. While this might not be a holiday you’ll celebrate “Pinterest style” with a color-coordinated candy buffet or handmade cut-out cookies, it doesn’t mean it’s not important. In fact, it could be one of the most important holidays of the year.
