About Austin Krueger
Austin works as a cost analyst for TDS Telecom in the Government and Regulatory Affairs team. He has a marketing degree from UW-Whitewater and has worked in various departments including marketing, sales and network services since joining TDS in 2004. He is a huge sports fan – if he’s not at work, odds are you can find him at Miller Park, Lambeau Field, Camp Randall or the Kohl Center watching the game. In his spare time, he’s chairman of a local non-profit, avid music fan, rec sports MVP and an early adopter when it comes to most new technologies.Cheap Tunes Tuesday: John Mellencamp
No matter how much music you listen to on a weekly basis, sometimes even the most avid music lovers forget about an artist from time to time. Today’s featured act is one that has stuck around for roughly four decades—and for good reason. Called "one of the 10 best songwriters," his music paints a picture while you listen.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Sam Smith
Countless hall of fame worthy acts took decades to achieve any notoriety and make it big. While rare, some artists burst on to the scene and hit it big within the first few years—and perhaps no one has done it as quickly and handily as today’s featured artist.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: The Cars
Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio isn’t necessarily why many bands start to make music, but in many ways, it’s the ultimate validation of your career and all your success. Selling millions of albums feels good, but the recognition you’re one of the best of all-time? That’s a major endorsement. Today’s band was inducted in April of this year, and might be a band you’ve forgotten you love.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: The Beatles
You’d be hard pressed to find anyone who has never heard any Beatles songs, but in this case, this is an album you don’t frequently hear played start to finish. Some of the hits on Help! are simply tremendous—and the lesser known tracks paved the way for some of the future experimentation the band would end up doing. Grab it today for only $5.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Lynyrd Skynyrd
Countless tributes, covers and a future full-length biopic about the group, it’s obvious how much the ragtag group of southern rockers impacted the music landscape. If you’ve somehow truly never experienced the band before, give this one a shot today. It’s their best album to start with and is a great intro to southern rock—and for only $5? It's a steal.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Imagine Dragons
The single “Radioactive” from this album hit major radio play, and it all blew up from there. The smash hit would spend a record-breaking 87 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100—but there's a lot more to Imagine Dragons than that one song. This album is great intro to a band you may think you know, but who just might surprise you.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Red Hot Chili Peppers
With 16 Grammy noms and more than 100 million albums sold to date, the Red Hot Chili Peppers certainly have staying power. Californication is the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ seventh studio album and also their best selling to date. Today you can pick it up for only $6 and feel like you’re on a beach in California.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Kid Rock
Devil Without A Cause was released in August of 1998. Praised for its ‘eclectic’ sound, the album has aspects of arena rock, country, heartland rock, metal and hip-hop. Sales were incredible, backed by lead single “Bawitdaba.” The album was certified platinum within six months and has been called one of the best of all time.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Coldplay
Some people like to poke fun at Coldplay because of the softer feel, but it’s no bother. Critical acclaim for this album was furious, Rolling Stone called Coldplay the ‘best band of the year’ and the album brought them a Grammy Award for ‘Record of the Year’ and it was number one on the charts and it has sold nearly 20 million copies to date.
Cheap Tunes Tuesday: Billy Squier
This likely isn’t in your rotation, and unless you’re somewhere in your forth decade, this may never have been. But either way, give Don’t Say No a shot today. Being 38 years old, the album holds up extraordinarily well and it may be one of those happy rediscoveries (or discoveries, as the case may be.)
