The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is where a slew of new electronics are released to set the stage for the next 12 months of geekdom. TDS Telecom’s Matt Apps, Manager of Product Management and Development, attended to learn about all the new technology and what customers will want to use with their Internet, TV, and voice services. Find out what three words Matt thought best described CES 2014.

We often hear about malware and the havoc it can cause, but what exactly is it and why should you care? In this, the first of two blog posts on malware, we look at trojans, ransomware, keyloggers and spyware and how cyber criminals use it to extort money. Next time, we will take a closer look at worms, adware and mobile malware, along with offering advice on avoiding them.
As a 30-something (ok, almost 40-something) in today’s healthy-focused society, I’m well aware that sitting all day at work isn’t good for my heart (nor my mid-section). In 2014 I’m trying to focus on health, and have been looking for ideas on how to burn calories at work. After doing some research, I've gathered a list of seven ways to incorporate healthy habits into the workday.
As you set your 2014 New Year’s Resolutions, if you’re looking to make a change, then stop worrying about results and start worrying about your identity. Become the type of person who can achieve the things you want to achieve. Build the habit now. The results can come later.
Not too long ago most people used the Internet for light web browsing and checking email. Internet service providers were able to accommodate this with their existing networks. Technology has rapidly advanced since those days and placed enormous demand on bandwidth and networks. In some ways, this situation is not unlike inviting extra guests to your Thanksgiving table...without buying a larger turkey. Let me explain.
Thanksgiving means many different things for many different people, but in our home it has always meant giving thanks for the blessings we have. This year, I am thankful for the 60 years I had with my mom and am reminded that she always thought of others before herself. I decided to start a new tradition of giving to others in honor of my mom and am committing to doing at least one random act of kindness per day. I've gathered a list of 60 kind and giving acts (that don't cost a lot of money or even require much effort) that anyone can do any day, not just on Thanksgiving.
I am not stepping in a store on Black Friday this year. Don’t keel over in shock—I’m sure you think as a Savvy Spender that I would be the first in line to get into Target, Wal-Mart, etc. for the great deals. And in past years, that’s always been my strategy for holiday shopping. But, the hype of Black Friday doesn’t exist anymore—and the great deals are now starting well before Black Friday. To get them all, you'll need a plan.
The holiday season is close upon us and soon millions of people around world will be looking to buy the perfect gifts. Many people will choose to shop online in search of a great, deal or to avoid long lines and crowds. Unfortunately, this is also the time unscrupulous websites may attempt to scam you by selling counterfeit products, stealing your credit card information or failing to deliver anything. In this post we will cover some of the dangers of shopping online and ways to protect yourself.
Dave Wittwer, president and CEO of TDS Telecommunications Corp, loves to cook. So, just in time for the holidays, he's sharing one of his family's favorite recipes. Get his mom's stuffing recipe now so you've got time to shop for ingredients before the big day.
