Cheap Tunes Tuesday: The Carpenters
Sonic Youth did a remake of the Carpenter hit “Superstar,” which may have been your only real introduction to the band. If you take a listen to the original though, there’s no denying the songwriting talents of Richard and the vocal ability of Karen. The Carpenters were one of the most recognized acts of the ‘70s, but appears to be lost among the current generation—but today you can give them a try for only $5.

TDS helps uncork the fun in Tennessee
On Saturday, April 30th, thousands of people sampled and enjoyed some of the best wine in Tennessee at A Toast to Tennessee Wine Festival sponsored by TDS and the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce. Now in its 13th year, the event featured 25 wineries from the middle Tennessee region, along with more than two-dozen food and artisan vendors.

Cheap Tunes Tuesday: REO Speedwagon
There are a couple tracks you still here on classic radio today, and they’re pretty catchy. I think if you’re looking for a signature pop album from the early ‘80s, you may not find a better example than this. It’s toe-tapping and one you can crank up in the car and sing along if you want. Just don’t do it with the windows down, at risk the car next to you will make fun of you the rest of the day.
