Card 4 2021

Hallmark Christmas movie bingo 2021

Holiday movies? Yes, please! Between Hallmark and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries there are a whopping 41 new ones to watch this year. That gives you plenty of opportunities to enjoy these bits of holiday escapism (reminder: we offered you our Ultimate Guide of all of the new movies). It also gives you lots of chances to play Hallmark Christmas Movie Bingo!

This year we’re offering you 10 fresh cards to enjoy while you watch. It’s a great game to play during a gathering of friends and family—whether they love Hallmark movies or hate them (and if you want to play alone, we won’t judge!). Whether you play for prizes, just for fun, or decide to make the cards into a drinking game (not that we’re endorsing that, mind you), we promise that watching Hallmark movies will never be the same.

Like every year, this Hallmark movie lover (I went public in 2016) added some new square options. Keep a look out for:

  • A Scene in a car. You might be surprised at just how many movies have a scene filmed in the front seat (I’m looking at you “Christmas Getaway”, “A Christmas Scavenger Hunt”, “Love You Like Christmas”, and many more).
  • Vintage car/truck. One movie has an old Mustang, another a Thunderbird, others an old red truck—and that’s just to name a few! Keep your eyes peeled for neat (and often unreliable) vintage vehicles.
  • Snowing. This is practically a free space because pretty much every movie has either snowstorm or it’s just snowing in a pretty (and often digital) fashion.
  • Candles. Last year fireplace/outdoor fire was added to the cards but watch out for candles too (even in outdoor scenes!).
  • Christmas list. Either the characters are checking off holiday to-dos, or a child has a Christmas list.
  • Holiday window. Charming small-town holiday windows abound in Hallmark movies!
  • Shares Christmas memory. Pretty much every Hallmark movie has a scene where someone shares a memory from their childhood.
  • Goes back in time. Movies frequently take characters on a Christmas Carol-inspired journey back in time. If you also want to count flashback scenes showing a character’s childhood, that’s on you and your fellow bingo players to decide 😊.
  • Musical instrument. Whether it’s a main character’s hobby or talent, or someone is playing in the background, musical instruments play (ha!) a role in lots of Hallmark movies.

All of the above ideas are now mixed in with previous bingo additions and classics such as (but not limited to): unlikely career (seriously, how many party planners are there in the world?), musical montage, gingerbread, trees with leaves, fake snow, wears a fancy dress, snowball fight/snow angels, ugly Christmas sweater, drinking hot beverage, cute small town, up for promotion, and former child star.

After watching a couple of Lifetime holiday movies last year (and I’ll also admit to watching all the Christmas Prince movies on Netflix), this author strongly suspects these cards can be used for those too (do let me know what you think though!).

Like previous years, the cards have a number tucked in the ribbon at the top, as well as the year in the bottom right corner to make it easier for you to keep track of which ones have been used. This year there are 10 fresh cards, but don’t forget you can always grab the ones from 201720182019, and 2020. In total, you have 46 free cards you can use!

Note: if you don’t want to print these out, know that Hallmark is now offering their own set of tear-off bingo cards (that are probably also a little less snarky).

Have I missed any common tropes? Feel free to comment and I’ll consider adding them next year!

Oh! And if you don’t have Hallmark and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries as part of your TDS TV+  lineup, now is a fantastic time to upgrade your channel package. Give us a call at 1-888-225-5837 or to go tdstelecom.com.
