With another NFL season upon us, there’s no shortage of intriguing storylines to follow as the season kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Still, oddsmakers pegged the Los Angeles Rams as the early NFC favorite.
Can the Patriots rebound?
To say it’s been a tumultuous offseason for New England would be an understatement. It would have been bad enough after an ugly Super Bowl, but then Coach Mike Vrabel became engulfed in scandal to the point where his future with the team seemed uncertain. Vrabel is back, but whether the controversy hangs over the team remains to be seen.
The return of Patrick Mahomes
Star Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes is returning this season after tearing his ACL and LCL just nine months ago. But how effective will he be? Mahomes was fully cleared to participate in training camp, although he did not take a snap in the preseason. Both the Chiefs and Mahomes are looking to bounce back after a disastrous 2025 that saw Kansas City fall to 6-11.
The last hurrah for Aaron Rodgers
Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers says he’s calling it a career after this season, his 22nd in the NFL. His final year sees him reunited with his old Packers coach, Mike McCarthy, who is taking the reins of the Steelers following the departure of Mike Tomlin. Rodgers had a respectable showing last year, throwing for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Can he end his spectacular career on a high note?
