Guest blogger for TDS Home. What is malware? Part 1
We often hear about malware and the havoc it can cause, but what exactly is it and why should you care?
In this, the first of two blog posts on malware, we look at trojans, ransomware, keyloggers and spyware and how cyber criminals use it to extort money. Next time, we will take a closer look at worms, adware and mobile malware, along with offering advice on avoiding them.
Seven ways to burn calories at work
As a 30-something (ok, almost 40-something) in today’s healthy-focused society, I’m well aware that sitting all day at work isn’t good for my heart (nor my mid-section). In 2014 I’m trying to focus on health, and have been looking for ideas on how to burn calories at work. After doing some research, I've gathered a list of seven ways to incorporate healthy habits into the workday.
How to Actually Stick to Your 2014 Resolutions
As you set your 2014 New Year’s Resolutions, if you’re looking to make a change, then stop worrying about results and start worrying about your identity. Become the type of person who can achieve the things you want to achieve. Build the habit now. The results can come later.

Three weight management tips this holiday season
Eggnog, little gingerbread men cookies (or any and all of Melynn’s cookies we’ve featured here on the blog), homemade candies—these are just a few of the tempting treats that contribute to the expansion of many American’s waist lines during the holiday season. But, there is hope! We've gathered three tips we can all do to avoid packing on the pounds this year.
Be together when you’re miles apart—try a virtual hangout!
Today, a “hangout” has a whole new meaning that doesn’t necessarily involve getting together in the same room. If you have friends or family that can’t come to your home for a party, let them hangout with you via a live computer feed during your next gathering.
TDS employees give back
You can't find the community of TDS on a map because employees are spread across the United States. But just because we live all over, doesn't mean we don't share a common goal to give back to the communities we serve. At no time during the year is this more evident than at the holidays. Employees all over the country are chipping in, donating, and helping to make a difference. Find out how.
Feeding our communities
The need for food is great and continues to grow while all too many continue to go hungry. To help make a difference, TDS recently made $1,000 contributions to several food pantries in southern Wisconsin—but the help doesn’t end there. Employees across the country are also stepping in to help in their own communities.
Bandwidth is like Thanksgiving turkey
Not too long ago most people used the Internet for light web browsing and checking email. Internet service providers were able to accommodate this with their existing networks. Technology has rapidly advanced since those days and placed enormous demand on bandwidth and networks. In some ways, this situation is not unlike inviting extra guests to your Thanksgiving table...without buying a larger turkey. Let me explain.
