If there weren’t other great movies arriving on TDS TV on Demand, it would be tempting to only talk about the elephant-sized blockbuster in the room, Avengers: Endgame—but there are plenty more awesome things to watch this month:


Pokemon: Detective Pikachu

You shouldn’t miss this unique and delightful buddy movie. After detective Harry Goodman’s goes missing, his son, Tim (Justice Smith), ends up investigating. Harry’s former partner, Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds at his energetic and exuberant best) is at the scene and, much to their surprise, they can understand each other. They join forces to untangle Harry’s mysterious disappearance—an adventure that takes them through a world where humans and Pokemon live side by side.


Avengers: Endgame
Starts August 13
Rated PG-13
Marvel

Um, if you haven’t already heard about this movie at some point over the past three months we don’t know quite what to tell you. It’s now the highest-grossing film of all time, having nudged Avatar off the top spot just a few weeks ago. If you haven’t seen it, maybe you should find out what the buzz is about. If you have seen it, for goodness sake watch it again! (you know you want to 🙂 )


A Dog’s Journey

This is the highly anticipated sequel to A Dog’s Purpose. This installment stands on its own and hits all the check marks for a great family film. It’s heartwarming, sentimental, makes you laugh, makes you cry, and the main character is a dog finding his purpose in life. Movie goers could not resist its charms—it earned a whopping 93% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes! Grab everyone you call family in this lifetime (including your pets), and give this one a try.


The Secret Life of Pets 2

The lens returns to Max and the rest of the gang a few years after the events of the first film. As you might expect, a lot has changed. Katie is now married and has a son named Liam who Max adores. With Liam leaving for preschool, Max is stressed but gets some help from a wise farm sheep while on a family trip—while lots also unfolds for Duke, Gidget, Chloe, and Snowball, too. If you enjoyed the first, you’ll likely enjoy this cute sequel.


Rocketman

Described as an “epic musical fantasy”, the film follows the journey of Reginald Dwight’s move from shy piano prodigy to international superstar Elton John. The story stars Taron Egerton as Elton, and Jamie Bell as Bernie Taupin, Elton’s long-time lyricist and writing partner. This Certified Fresh movie has been a huge hit, with movie-goers enjoying (and singing along with) the unique mix of biopic, musical, and fantasy.


Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Rated PG-13
Legendary and Warner Bros.

Critics didn’t love it but this is a clear case of, “Who cares what they think?” Why? Because giant monsters! Audiences are loving this movie where Godzilla faces off with all of his previous nemeses—Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. Along with the kaiju, you’ll see stars like Kyle Chandler, Verna Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Ken Watanabe and more. It’s just pure fun on an epic scale.
