Forget Halloween—Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ Miracles of Christmas kicks off Friday, October 25! This year there are a whopping 40 new movies to watch across both channels (24 on Hallmark, 16 on Movies & Mysteries).
If that total doesn’t wow you, consider this: the first movie airs on October 25 and the last on December 28. That means there are 65 days to enjoy all 40 movies (and only 10 weekends)—so nearly every day you’ll have something new to watch!
Have you been watching the preview specials? Ya’ll know I am. The latest one with Candace Cameron Bure is airing tonight on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries (8pm/7pm CT), but the previous special with Andrew Walker and Lindsay Wagner is available anytime on YouTube. Good Housekeeping also has great article with lots of details about most of the movies—including plots.
The real challenge is going to be keeping up with alllll of these movies. Here are three ways to never miss a premier:
- Download the Hallmark Movie Checklist App. I used this last year, when the app was brand new. It’s come a long way since then and it’s a great way to keep track of what you’ve watched—you can even get calendar reminders!
- Download the guides available at Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. I love the look but as a Hallmark addict, I think these have one big downside—they’re separate lists. If you want to watch all of the new movies, you have to jump between them. Fortunately, I have another option for you…
- Print off my all-in-one calendar guide (below). This has all of the dates—in calendar form—for all 40 new movies, complete with color-codes to indicate which channel each movie is on. Just print off this blog and trim as needed.
- Make use your TDS TV DVR. Let’s face it—not many of us have time to catch every single one of these movies live (even though us fans would like to). Pro tip: clear off any unneeded recordings before Friday so you’ve got plenty of space and, with this many movies, you may want to keep an eye on your DVR free space. To do that, press the MENU button or the LEFT arrow on your remote and navigate to the TDS Apps section. Use the RIGHT arrow to navigate to the DVR Free Space option and press OK on your remote.
If you want to get even more serious about your Hallmark movies, sign up to play the Countdown to Christmas Fantasy Game. You pick what you think will be the most-watched movies for each week from a handful of options (which was trickier than I thought it was going to be). Return each week to make your picks and you can win extra points by answering weekly trivia questions. Even better? You can win up to $20,000!
And, while you’re on the website, help someone else have an amazing holiday. In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Countdown to Christmas, Hallmark is running a Holiday Home Decoration Sweepstakes. Take a look at the four finalists and vote for the home you’d like to see win the Holiday Home Makeover.
