Memorial Day has come and gone, and that means the season’s main shows are quickly wrapping up. But don’t fear for your entertainment! TDS brings a solid quartet of films to TDS TV On Demand. Plus, the networks have some interesting shows on tap, including the David Duchovny’s crime thriller “Aquarius.” Finally, don’t miss out on what will be an epic NBA championship series, which sees LeBron James and his Cavaliers returning to the finals.

New on TDS TV On Demand

Jupiter Ascending
The latest sci-fi film from the Wachowskis (makers of “The Matrix”) is a mixed bag. Mila Kunis plays a young woman who discovers she is of intergalactic nobility – and thus must fight to protect the Earth from destruction. It’s more than a bit confusing, but the cast is great (Channing Tatum, Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne), and the effects really are pretty awe-inspiring. Available June 2.

Focus
Enjoyable caper film starring Will Smith as a veteran con man who reunites with an old flame. If you enjoy films such as “The Sting” and “Ocean’s 11,” this is for you as the double crosses, twists and bluffs come fast and furious. Available June 2.

McFarland, USA
Nicely done drama about a high school cross country coach (Kevin Costner) who transforms a group of Latino teens into a championship team. There’s nothing terribly original here, but the performances and script are heartfelt, inspiring and engaging. Available June 2.

The SpongeBob Movie, Sponge Out of Water
A pirate steals the secret Krabby Patty formula! Oh my! Leave it to SpongeBob and the gang to save the day. There’s not much here that will surprise you. If you (or the kids) like the show, tune it. If not, then move on. Available June 2.

TV Highlights

aquariusAquarius
David Duchovny stars as an LA detective on the trial of cult leader Charles Manson. This could be one of the summer hits. Thursday, May 28, NBC.

500 Questions
It’s trivia on steroids. If that sounds like fun, tune in. Thursday, May 28, ABC

Louie
It’s the season five finale of our favorite bummed out cynic, Louis C.K. Thursday, May 28, FX.

David-Oyelowo-in-NightingaleNightingale
Unnerving character study starring David Oyelowo (“Selma”), who plays a lonely war veteran who’s life begins to unravel around him. Oyelowo is fantastic. Friday, May 29, HBO.

So You Think You Can Dance
It’s a new season for the summer dance favorite. This year sees the arrival of Paula Abdul to the judges table (but sadly, the departure of Mary Murphy). Monday, June 1, Fox.

Hot in Cleveland
The long-running comedy says its goodbye. Who would have thought this silly, but enjoyable sitcom would last six seasons. Give Betty White and the girls their due and give it one last watch. Wednesday, June 3, TV Land.

NBA Finals
Can you say storybook? LeBron James brings the Cleveland Cavaliers back to the finals. King James and his Cavs will face either the Houston Rockets or the Golden State Warriors (the Warriors hold a 3-1 series lead at press time). Thursday, June 4, ABC.

Sense8Sense8
Intriguing (and very strange looking) new sci-fi series from the Wachowskis (“The Matrix”) and J. Michael Straczynski (“Babylon 5”) about eight strangers from around the world who are suddenly linked mentally and emotionally. The eight must find a way to survive as some see their evolutionary step as a threat to mankind. Debuts Friday, June 5, on Netflix.

The 69th Annual Tony Awards
The annual nod to Broadway is hosted by the supremely talented Alan Cumming and Kristin Chenoweth. The Tonys always have a bit of a impromtu fun to them – more than the slicker Emmys or Oscars. Sunday, June 7, CBS.

News

Bill MurrayIn the kinda weird department, Netflix has acquired Sofia Coppola and Bill Murray’s “A Very Murray Christmas,” to debut this December. The project is described as a homage to classic variety shows, with Murray playing himself.

Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter’s next project will be “The Bastard Executioner“, a medieval action-drama that will debut this fall on FX.
