TDS Telecom is holding its second-annual TDS Cares Day in celebration of its core values. TDS Cares Day is being held Tuesday, June 4 throughout TDS communities across the country. TDS associates are increasing their normal philanthropic efforts to put into practice the value of investing in people and communities through give-back efforts, which includes making donations and volunteering.
“We take pride in our community involvement and support every day of the year, but on TDS Cares Day we’re unified in our focus to make extra impacts in the communities we serve,” said Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs Drew Petersen.
A sample of associate TDS Cares Day activities includes:
- Madison, Wisconsin: Making blankets for children undergoing surgery at Unity Point Health Meriter Hospital, donating books to Madison Reading Project and providing needed items and a $500 donation to Operation Fresh Start, and giving $500 to Capital K9 at an event at company headquarters.
- Spokane, Washington: Hosting Spokane’s first Volunteer Showcase, giving community members the opportunity to connect with about 50 area non-profits and learn how they can get involved.
- Billings, Montana: Volunteering their time doing yard work for older adults.
- Knoxville, Tennessee: Donating $1,000 and volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Bank.
- Appleton, Wisconsin, and Mooresville, North Carolina: Volunteering at local food banks.
- Nampa and Twin Falls, Idaho: Presenting 500 pairs of farmworker gloves to Community Council of Idaho.
- St. George, Utah: Volunteering at outdoor spring cleaning at the Root For Kids facility.
- Bend, Oregon: Sponsoring the Opportunity Foundation and associates are volunteering in the store and at Central Oregon Veterans Ranch.
Beyond investing in people and communities, TDS shared values include drive customer loyalty, champion inclusivity, act with integrity, and foster teamwork.
The company puts its values in action through its Be Good Citizens program. TDS associates receive 16 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer at 501c organizations. In 2023, associates gave more than 1,400 hours to charitable organizations.
