The Oscars are in and we have 10 of this year’s best (including the best) available for you via Movies On Demand. If you’re looking for great drama and action, you have a lot of options at your fingertips.

New this week on Movies on Demand

slave12 Years a Slave
The winner of this year’s Academy Award for Best Picture, “12 Years a Slave” is a searing look at the institution of slavery in America. Due to the violence and intensity, the film is not the easiest to watch. But it’s a triumph in filmmaking and should not be missed. Available March 4.

Inside Llewyn Davis
The Cohen Brothers offer a low key drama about a musician who becomes involved in the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. The music, courtesy of T-Bone Burnett, is fabulous. It’s a beautiful film, often funny, sometimes very dark. Nominated for two Academy Awards. Available March 11.

katnissThe Hunger Games: Catching Fire
It may not have won any Oscars, but few films can top “The Hunger Games” for entertainment (and box office success). Jennifer Lawrence (as heroine Katniss Everdeen) and an all-star cast return for another round of gladiatorial combat. Available March 7.

Out of the Furnace
Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson headline a strong cast in this moody crime drama. The film is slow at times, but there’s a fierce honesty to the film that is rewarding. Available March 11.

GRAVITYGravity
Sandra Bullock is superb as an astronaut struggling to survive in outer space. The film is a classic nail biter. “Gravity” captured seven Oscars, including Best Director for Alfonso Cuarón. It’s the best space film since “Apollo 13”. Available now.

Homefront
Our guilty pleasure of the week. Jason Statham just wants to be left alone, but bad guy James Franco isn’t going to let that happen. That unleashes a routine, but enjoyable action flick that should satisfy fans of the genre. Available March 11.

Other Oscar Picks
If you are looking for other Academy Award winning films, check out Cate Blanchett, who won Best Actress for “Blue Jasmine,” and Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto who snagged Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor awards, respectively, for “Dallas Buyers Club.” And don’t miss out on “Nebraska” or “Captain Phillips,” both of which were nominated for six Oscars. All four films are available now.
