This summer, the world will come together for The Paris Olympics. Alongside 16 other cities across Metropolitan France and Tahiti, Paris will host the Games from July 26 to August 11.
The modern iteration of The Olympics began in 1896 in Athens, Greece, and has since symbolized collaboration, competition, and athletic spirit between the countries of the world. 2024 will mark the third time Paris has hosted The Olympics, tying the record for the most times a city has hosted the Games with London.
Notably, breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding, and surfing have been added to the Paris Olympics, while karate, softball, and baseball have been dropped. In total, there will be 32 sports and 329 medal events.
During the last Summer Olympic Games, which were held in Tokyo amid the Covid pandemic, the United States took home the most medals at 113, including a games-high 39 gold medals. The USA will look to replicate their winning tally this year.
