Break’s not over yet so there’s still time to battle the dreaded summer slide.
Summer slide is when, over vacation, kids forget some of what they learned during the school year. This means kids wills go back to school in the fall at a lower achievement level than when they left in May or June.
Tri 4 Schools, an organization TDS is proud to help sponsor, reached out to us to come up with some ideas for using technology to prevent summer brain drain.
If you haven’t heard of them before, Tri 4 Schools is a non-profit in Dane County, Wisconsin who helps teach kids about setting and achieving goals, fitness, nutrition, sportsmanship, and self-confidence. One of the ways they do this is by offering a variety of events including kids triathlons and their always-popular mud runs—but that doesn’t mean they’re ignoring academics.
Together, we came up with some ways to meld technology and activity to help keep your kids engaged in both body and mind…even through these waning days of summer. Click to read our ideas!
