Making progress in Quincy Florida with Hurricane Michael damages

Restorations progress

Update:  Oct. 25, 4:39 p.m. CST – Great news, only two locations left without commercial power.  49 of 51 TDS sites restored to service. Two sites are on back-up generators so all locations are up and running.  New contractors began working today and will continue to work throughout the weekend.

Update:  Oct. 23,1:50 p.m. CST– Power companies are making great progress restorations – only 5 of 51 TDS sites now without services. TDS crews are working to clear customer outages and new contractors will arrive this weekend for a fresh set of hands (and some much needed relief.) Once power is restored to your home please check your phone and internet services. Try a “re-boot” if no services come up automatically — which means to turn off for at least 90 seconds then restart. Then call TDS to report any remaining troubles.  Thank you all for your continued patience as we work together with the power companies and local officials to restore services to your homes and businesses.

Update:  Oct. 22, 2:20 p.m. CST.  Commercial power has been restored to more sites in the area.  35 of 51 TDS network sites are now restored with commercial power, TDS crews are working on sites with damaged facilities.  If you have lines damaged on your personal property please notify TDS at 1-866-571-6662.  (see below for more info)

TDS has been conducting emergency operations in Quincy Florida since the day the Hurricane was announced.  Regular updates are available on Facebook.

Several TDS employees safely rode out the course of the storm in our Central Office to enable an urgent response to the telecom needs in the area. Assisting telecom response teams from other states have also been staying in our facility, using it as a command post/camp until hotels are ready.

As of Oct. 17, we have 18 of 53 telecom sites on commercial power, which means many sites are on gas generators supplying power to ensure landline communications wherever possible.

We have crews from several sites across the U.S. in Quincy now helping to manage the restoration efforts wherever it is safe to proceed.  TDS follows the power companies, so as they give us access to new areas we will complete restorations. Getting full commercial power back up will be of great help and we understand power companies are making progress in the area. TDS teams in Quincy have been helping clear debris, assessing damages, making repairs, and creating trouble tickets for customers with damaged facilities at their homes.

All TDS major facilities and buildings made it through the storm intact which will make restoration faster.  Many downed poles and lines are impacting services to some areas.

As of Oct. 18 we have 24 of 53 sites restored with commercial power, the other sites are being fed with gas generators to power landline/internet services.  Services are being provided to critical sites such as the police, fire, hospital etc.

If you have downed lines on your property that are connecting your home to the main lines please report your situation to TDS via phone or on our website, if you have access to internet. TDS crews are also out making visual assessments and inventorying damages.

Please do not try to reconnect cables on your own.  Do not touch downed power or phone lines.

https://tdstelecom.com/contactus.html  is the fastest way to report your issue.  Due to situations in multiple parts of the U.S. our hold times are extended.  We encourage you to use the online form.

Or call TDS at 1-866-571-6662 (M-F, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CST; and Saturdays, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. CST).

Note: Please do not tamper with equipment, generators, or the telecom utility boxes.  Stealing generators is a federal offense, as they are providing critical 911 services.
