Education can open new worlds and be a stepping stone to career growth, but the financial cost of higher education is often a barrier to earning a degree. TDS helps associates overcome that barrier with the Education Assistance policy, which reimburses up to 100% of higher educational costs. The policy applies to all eligible associates across TDS Corporate, Array Digital Infrastructure, and TDS Telecom.

Employers often encourage professional development and offer financial assistance, but TDS’ policy stands out for the comprehensive support it gives to associates.

“I love seeing associates take advantage of this benefit,” said Kim Ubersox, Associate Manager of Benefits.  Whether they’re finishing a degree they started years ago or pursuing something new, the program provides significant support by reimbursing tuition, books, and fees.”

That assistance goes a long way in making education possible for our associates – up to $9,000 per year for undergraduate studies and up to $12,000 for graduate programs. The importance of education and investment in associates has always been part of TDS’ mission. The Education Assistance policy gives support to associates, which then allows them to bring more to their role at TDS.

“This program is a great example of how TDS invests in its people,” said Kim. “Associates have the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their educational goals.  And when they bring that knowledge back to their teams and their everyday work, everyone benefits.”

For many associates, the policy gives them the opportunity to pursue the career dreams they discovered while working at TDS, or to finish education they previously put on pause.

“I can confidently say it has been a life-changing investment in both my professional and personal growth,” said Brooke L., a project manager. “I was able to earn my bachelor’s degree in business while continuing to build my career, relieving much of the financial burden that often comes with higher education.”

Associates interested in utilizing the policy should start by researching programs and schools to decide on the degree or certification that is best for you. The area of study must be applicable to business activities conducted by TDS, but do not necessarily need to be directly related to your current job duties. Talk with your leader to ensure your class schedule and course work won’t interfere with your day-to-day responsibilities. Then, you can submit the required forms and get learning!
