What’s Coming Up?

tdstv remote 2With modern day television subscriptions, it’s very easy to know what’s on at any given time. You can even look into the future to see what’s on over the weekend just to make sure you’re not going to miss anything while taking in a nice day at the beach.

TDS TV offers the same functionality. You can navigate easily through the guide, use the Connected-Home DVR to ensure you won’t miss your shows, and be able to watch them anywhere in the house. You can even log into the Online DVR Manager and check online.

But sometimes, you might not know about good show coming up or you may have forgotten to set that series recording like you hoped. Let me help you with that. It’s the fall, and many new shows are premiering, and many other shows are coming back for another season. Here’s a quick peek at what’s coming up over the next couple weeks, and what you shouldn’t miss:

ABC
Agents_of_SHIELD_PromoTuesday, September 24th: The series premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Despite Agent Phil Coulson’s apparent death at the end of The Avengers, he’s putting together a small team of agents to handle new cases. Each case will test the team as the try to work together figuring out how to work with the newly emerging super-humans in the world.

Wednesday, September 25th: The one hour season premiere of Modern Family. The quirky Dunphy family is back for their 5th season. A very highly regarded program since season one, there are a lot of expectations on what crazy antics the family will get into next.

NBC
Wednesday, September 25th: Law and Order: SVU. An incredible 15th season is on the horizon for this show. The previous season ended in quite a cliffhanger as Detective Benson found herself entangled with a recently acquitted heinous criminal. The show will continue to pluck stories straight from the headlines and be the definition of crime drama.

michael j foxThursday, September 26th: Parks and Rec is back for season six. Leslie’s first year as city councilor came to a close at the end of last season, and the citizens of Pawnee weren’t necessarily in love with it. Ron Swanson faced some shocking news, and there will be a lot more hijinks from Indiana’s finest comedy.

Thursday, September 26th: A new series that will mark the return to television for Michael J. Fox, in his self-titled program. He stars as Mike Henry who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. He had to give up his career as a news anchor and focus on his health and family. Five years later he decided to get back to work and the show highlights the struggles between career and family.

CBS
BigBangTheoryIcon_mediumThursday, September 26th: Big Bang Theory comes back for their 7th season. One of the most popular shows on television returns coming off a great previous season. Leonard was leaving to join Stephen Hawking for an expedition and Raj appeared to have come to terms with his selective mutism.

Monday, September 23rd: How I Met Your Mother is back for the ninth and final season. The final episode of season 8 showed Robin and Barney about to marry, and we finally got a chance to see the mother—a serious shocker since until that point, she was simply used in reference and not shown. It’ll be interesting to see how they proceed with the final season storyline.

FOX
Sunday, September 30th: Bob’s Burgers comes back for the 3rd season. There are many animated shows on Fox, and this is one might be the strangest of the all. A family that owns and operates a burger shop, and the dry humor that lifestyle entails. A laidback comedy sure to get a couple chuckles out of anyone.

Brooklyn99_2shotFF-600x374Tuesday, September 17th: The hardly anticipated debut of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, an upcoming comedy featuring Andy Samberg following his SNL departure. He plays a laid back NYPD detective who is asked to grow up and “respect the badge”. I don’t think there are incredible expectations from this show–hopefully Samberg isn’t stuck on the “lonely island” of bad TV comedies.

That just scratches the surface of what’s coming this fall. FXX has already premiered shows like, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia as well as The League. If you’re a couple weeks behind, set the DVR. HBO has released The Newsroom and Boardwalk Empire already too, but Game of Thrones fans will have to wait until 2014.

Feel free to comment on your favorite programs, or which new shows you’re most looking forward to. With the massive storage TDS TV Connected-Home DVR has, you have plenty of space, just a matter of finding the time to try them all out!

Being able to watch every game for the teams I root for is essential. When I heard about TDS TV at the office, I couldn’t raise my hand fast enough to volunteer to test it out. Whether it’s a new set-top box, interface, or channels, I’ll be testing them and providing my honest feedback. Eric: I’m a sports geek and a techie nerd. At TDS I have experienced everything from dial-up Internet to a super high-speed connection and have tested products before. My wife is sort of a TV co-tester since we watch most of the shows we record together. I think it’s pretty cool I get to share my TDS TV experiences here!

I’m going to be checking out “The Crazy Ones” on CBS with Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar. And, after hearing some positive buzz about FOX’s “Sleepy Hollow,” I set the DVR to catch the replaying of that pilot tomorrow night.

I’m looking forward to the return of Homeland and I’m tempted to give Once Upon a Time a try because the man who plays Captain Hook is pretty swoony.
