When’s the last time you visited channel 1 on your TDS TV? If you haven’t checked it out, this is a reminder that you shouldn’t forget it’s there (like I did—whoops!).
Channel 1 is the “Information Channel” on TDS TV, and it’s a handy thing to remember is out there. As TDS TV has updates you should know about like channel name changes, or new channels or features, they appear on channel 1.
If you’re like me, you might not get down channel 1 very often. I tend to stay in the HD range and don’t often scroll down that far. But, I realized this week that by not checking it, I’m missing out on some good updates. (And had I actually watched channel 1, it would have saved me the embarrassment of asking around the office about some recent updates that I should have known about.)
To watch all the information it only took me a total 2 minutes and 45 seconds. That’s it. Here’s what I learned (and what you might have missed too):
• Speed channel has been relaunched as Fox Sports with a wider range of programming
• FXX is replacing Fox Soccer
• Fuel has been rebranded as Fox Sports 2
• Current TV is now known as Al Jazeera
• Fox Movie Channel HD hasn’t gone anywhere, but is now called FX Movie Channel HD
Starting Monday, the Style network became known as Esquire, even though the channel number didn’t change. Also, on October 1, Wealth TV is changing its name to AWE (standing for A Wealth of Entertainment).
TDS TV has also made some recent additions to the Expanded Plus Tier. Crime & Investigation HD (channel 1128) and History International HD (channel 1252) were added. Plus, did you see that NFL Redzone is now available for the season?
I think I’ll be much better about checking the Information Channel occasionally now (which will save me from the “No, duh” looks I got this week here in the office from asking, what I realize now, were stupid questions!). Moving forward, as there are updates on channel 1, Austin and I will fill you in here on the blog too (just in case you weren’t watching :-)).
