Golf enthusiasts in the Madison, Wis. area recently pulled out their drivers and putters to give back to their community. How? They participated in the TDS Open.
The TDS Open is an annual event benefiting local charities in Dane County, Wis. Since 2010, this charity golf outing has raised more than $175,000! This year, participants helped raise funds for two worthy groups: the Dane County Crime Response Program and Tri 4 Schools.
The Dane County Crime Response Program provides victims of crime, their families, and witnesses, crisis services including emotional support, legal advocacy, safety checks, and more. Tri 4 Schools uses sports as a platform to get kids active and fight childhood obesity.
Although the charity’s goals are serious, the day certainly wasn’t. It was sunny and hot— a perfect day in Wisconsin to enjoy the links. Golfers were laughing, high-fiving, and occasionally cursing their golf shots, but the between-hole games and challenges on the course kept the fun coming. And, even if their score cards were higher than they wanted, the golfers agreed having a great time for a good cause was a perfect mix.
At the end of the day an incredible amount of money was raised—each charity received $16,600!
The golfers didn’t walk away empty handed either. They were treated to a goodie bag full of food and swag, hole prizes donated from amazing sponsors, and one of the best silent auctions you can find. All in the name of giving back to the community that surrounds the TDS headquarters.
TDS would like to thank all of the individuals and sponsors that helped make this year’s TDS Open a huge success. We’re already looking forward to seeing you next year!
