While the holidays can be busy and stressful for many, Thanksgiving is also a good time to try and slow down, spend quality time with loved ones, and savor family moments.

If you’re in need of inspiration of how to make the most of the holiday, here are five activities that you and your family might enjoy together this upcoming Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Crafting

Set up a Thanksgiving crafting table where kids can make turkey handprints, gratitude trees, or DIY Thanksgiving cards for each family member. You can use colorful leaves, construction paper, and markers to get creative.

Turkey Trot Fun Run

Get the family moving before the big meal! Many cities around the country host local Turkey Trots, which can sometimes include kid-friendly races and costume contests. You can also create a DIY version around your neighborhood or backyard!

Backyard Activities

Football and Thanksgiving go hand-in-hand! Organize a friendly game of touch football in the backyard or at a local park. It’s a great way to bond with family and friends while burning off some calories before the big meal.

If football isn’t your speed, kickball is another fun option — all you need is a soft, bouncy ball and some bases, which can be improvised with household items. And if you want a slower paced activity, a simple Frisbee toss can be fun for everyone of all ages (if you want to heighten the intensity, try ultimate Frisbee).

Board Games or Puzzle Time

Bring out classic board games or a large family puzzle to work on together. It’s a perfect way to create laughter, spark friendly competition, and make memories together. A couple personal favorites for the whole family to enjoy include Apples to Apples, Scrabble, Jenga, Uno, or Monopoly.

A Charlie Brown ThanksgivingThanksgiving Movie Marathon

After the meal, unwind with a family-friendly movie marathon. Put together a list of holiday classics or choose a favorite family movie to enjoy together, complete with popcorn, snack, and a leftover pie. Check out this list for some ideas.

Whether you’re keeping traditions alive or starting new ones, many of these Thanksgiving activities are sure to bring joy to families. Here’s to a holiday filled with gratitude, togetherness, and a lot of fun. Does your family have a tradition to add to our list? Let us know in the comments!
