Low-income residential customers in some parts of TDS Telecom’s service area may be eligible for discounts on service through a federal program called Lifeline.

The program provides eligible customers with a discount on phone service or qualifying internet service of up to $9.25 per month, or up to $34.25 per month for customers living on federally recognized tribal lands.

Lifeline is a government assistance program and non-transferable – only eligible consumers may enroll in the program. There is a limit of one discount per household.

Lifeline discounts on internet service are only available where minimum supported broadband service is available. If a household becomes ineligible for Lifeline, it will be subject to TDS’ regular rates, terms, and conditions.

TDS strives to keep service affordable for low-income residents through programs like Lifeline as well as TDS Connect, which offers $30 per month internet service for households that meet income requirements. For more information on that program, click here.
