TDS is fortunate to have 71 interns working across the country this year to help us achieve our mission of creating a better world. In areas ranging from field services and network operations, to information technology and more, we’re proud to maintain a strong internship program and provide our interns with meaningful support every step of the way.
In recognition of National Intern Day on July 31, we asked a few of our associates for advice they would give others on how to make the most out of their internship. Read on for what they had to say!
Guin (Butte, Mont.): Ask questions, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Take the initiative to learn from others, request feedback, and build connections across the company. The more proactive and open you are, the more you’ll grow both personally and professionally.
Shafay (Darien, Conn.): It is very important to communicate with your team. The more you reach out, the easier it will be to ask questions and help out in any way you can.
Brooke (Monroe, Wis.): Be willing to learn new things every day and ask questions if you need help. Your coworkers are there to help you along the way!
Lacey (Onalaska, Wis.): My advice would be to say “yes” as much as you can. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in a new position and in the corporate/business world, but you will never know your limits and/or potential if you say “no” to new opportunities and challenges that come your way.
Kadence (Billings, Mont.): My advice is to be open and willing to learn. Say yes to things, even if they’re new or a little outside of your comfort zone. Whether it’s a small task or something totally new, every opportunity helps you grow and get more out of the experience.
Kayla (Woodstock, Ga.): Ask questions and ask for the opportunity to participate more.
