TDS negotiating with Fox Broadcasting Company: Update

UPDATE 1/1/2020:

Good News! We are pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with FOX to continue to provide their programming on your lineup. There was no disruption in service.

Each year, the cost of delivering the programming our customers want to see increases substantially. TDS and the NCTC are tough negotiators on your behalf so that we can reach the best agreements with programmers. Our commitment has always been to give you the right combination of networks at the best value possible.

We value you as a customer and appreciate your patience and support as we worked through our negotiations with FOX.

We are currently in negotiation with FOX Corporation to continue to offer their cable networks including:

  • FOX News Channel
  • FOX Business
  • FOX Sports 1
  • FOX Sports 2
  • FOX Deportes
  • FOX Soccer Plus
  • Big Ten Network
  • FOX Broadcast Network in the Minneapolis DMA (impacting Danube, Monticello, New London, Spicer, Brooten, Sunburg, Irving, Kerkhoven, Murdock, and Pennock, Minn)

Our discussions with FOX have stalled because FOX is asking for extremely high rate increases, and we have refused to agree to their outrageous demand. Our customers are NOT at risk of losing any of those networks prior to the December 31, 2019 deadline because FOX must contractually provide the signals through this date. However, at that time, if we do not feel that the arrangement Fox is proposing is the right thing for our customers and we do not have a reasonable agreement or extension in place, FOX may choose to pull their networks from our customers. We will work hard to avoid this and will continue to update you as the deadline gets closer.

TDS is negotiating this contract along with nearly 800 other small TV and cable providers across the country. This is a nationwide contract negotiation. TDS is working with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) on these negotiations. We are working together to receive the best possible  contract terms for our customers so they can receive the same great services and pricing regardless of where they live.
