What’s showing on HBO® and Cinemax®

Now that the busy-ness of the holidays is over, you can sit down, relax, and enjoy the great entertainment HBO® and Cinemax® have to offer. From new shows, returning favorites, and theatrical blockbusters—there’s a lot to watch (and, from January 9-11 it’s a FREE preview weekend for both channels!). Here are some highlights:

Shows

Real Time with Bill Maher
While you never know exactly what topics Bill Maher and his panel are going discuss, you always know that Bill will say something that will get people talking (both on the show and at the water cooler in the days following!). The new season begins on HBO on Friday, January 9.

Banshee
The Emmy-award winning show returns to Cinemax on Friday, January 9. The series follows ex-con Lucas Hood (played by Anthony Starr) who assumes the identity of the murdered sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania. Hood doles out his own kind of justice as sheriff while keeping his less-than-legal activities going on the side.

Girls
The fourth season of the popular HBO comedy starts on Sunday, January 11. Created and starring Lea Dunham, the Emmy-winning series follows a group of women in their 20s finding their way in New York and San Francisco. The show returns with familiar characters and also introduces us to new friends in Los Angeles.

HBO shared a teaser about we can expect in the coming episodes: “Hannah has left New York to attend the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop, hoping to become a more serious writer, while facing uncertainty in her relationship with Adam. Back in the city, Marnie is pursuing a music career, trying to balance her personal and professional relationship with Desi. New graduate Shoshanna is interviewing for jobs and struggling to sort out her relationship with Ray. And Jessa is trying sobriety through AA, but her knack for creating drama is undiminished.”

The new HBO show Togetherness follows two couples who are approaching middle age struggling to make their relationships—and lives—work. The series was created by noted filmmakers Mark and Jay Duplass who have written, directed and/or produced more than 20 films, including their award-winning The Puffy Chair.

The series focuses on Brett and Michelle Pierson (played by writer-producer Mark Duplass and Melanie Lynskey) and the couple who moves in with them—Michelle’s sister Tina and husband Alex (Amanda Peet and Steve Zissis). The show kicks off on Sunday, January 11.
