Vehicle donations help those in need

What do a car, bucket truck, and two full-size vans have in common? Each was donated by TDS to help those in need.

First, a family of eight in Waunakee, Wis. received the car. Rather than retire a 2004 Ford Taurus, TDS donated it to the Waunakee Neighborhood Connection. The organization quickly handed the keys to a local family who was sharing one car.

The second vehicle, a bucket truck, was donated to the town of Decaturville, Tenn. The 1993 truck was set to be retired, but then TDS learned about the town’s needs and handed the keys over to the mayor. With the bucket truck, the town can now safely hang their own holiday decorations, install street lights, trim trees, and so much more.

The last vehicles donated this spring were 2005 Chevrolet Astro cargo vans. One was given to Vardaman High School in Vardaman, Miss. The school needed a new van, but didn’t have the resources to buy one. The second was given to the Community Center of Hope in Mosinee, Wis. Their “Wheels for Meals” van had more than 300,000 miles on it and a door that fell off every time it was opened. Upon learning of the needs of the school and the Community Center, TDS decided to donate the vans, which were about to be retired.
