New this week on Movies on Demand
Need for Speed
Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul stars a man framed for a murder he didn’t commit. Fresh out of prison, he joins a secret cross-country race with revenge on his mind. The story is nothing special, but the action is first-rate with plenty of car crashes, explosions and thrills. Available August 5.
“Oculus” is a clever, creepy and satisfying supernatural thriller. It’s a perfect film for horror fans who prefer their scares to be measured and stylish. Available August 5.
Shailene Woodley stars in this adaptation of the popular teen novel. The film is set in a futuristic dystopia, where a young woman finds that her unique talents could lead to her death. The film may seem like “Hunger Games”-lite, but Woodley, as the smart, spunky heroine, makes it worthwhile. Available August 5.
Disney strikes again with another winning nature film. Set against the Alaskan wilderness, the movie follows a family of bears over the course of a year. A wonderful film that’s perfect for the entire family. Available August 12.
Muppets Most Wanted
It may not reach the heights of 2011’s “The Muppets,” but this new film has lots of charm, laughs and joy. Join Kermit and the gang as they get involved in a jewel-heist caper while in Europe. Available August 12.
The gritty crime drama wraps up third season. Monday, August 4, A&E.
Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Atlanta Falcons
HBO’s inside look at life in an NFL training camp returns. This year, “Hard Knocks” tracks the victories and defeats of the Atlanta Falcon players and coaches. Tuesday, August 5, HBO.

7 Deadly Sins
Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock gives us a modern day interpretation (think a bit weird and a bit comical) of the seven deadly sins: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride. Thursday, August 7, Showtime.
Academy Award winning film maker Steven Soderbergh teams with actor Clive Owen to turn the medical drama upside down with this 10-part mini-series. Owen is an arrogant, cocaine-addicted doctor at New York’s Knickerbocker Hospital circa 1900. Friday, August 8, Cinemax.
