UPDATE 12/31/17: Our negotiations with Hearst have been extended until January 5th.
We wanted to make sure you’re in the loop on negotiations happening for content in your area. TDS is in the midst of contract negotiations with Hearst Television and could be forced to take down the ABC affiliates (both WCVB and WMUR) and MeTV.
If an agreement cannot be reached by 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 31, TDS will remove the channels from the line-up in all New Hampshire communities that receive TDS TV.
We want to provide our customers with the best service and programming, but we also want to do so at the best value. We are fully prepared to pay a fair price for programming, but when demands are made for unprecedented increases in monthly fees, we strongly believe it’s our responsibility to take a stand for our customers.
We wanted to warn you in advance about this channel take down possibility since ABC will host the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, at 1 p.m. EST.
TDS works hard during every contract negotiation and we won’t let unreasonable terms and prices sacrifice the best interests of our customers—and we thank you for being one!
Wcvb ch5 is our network for national news and in-depth reporting in NH. Wmur is great at local news but relies on wcvb for regional and national news. Please negotiate in good faith and bring back Ch 5 wcvb. There are other providers we could move to, but till now TDS has provided excellent service.
I left Dish because of this type of problem. TDS and Hearst need to get this fixed. There are other ways for me to get stations I want.
Bring back wcvb, best for national and regional news. Wmur gets most of its feeds from Wcvb, but it is good for local news
I was going to contact you regarding the removal of NECN earlier and WCVB from Boston, two of my favorite stations. Are negotiations still in process or is the removal of these stations a final decision?
I have a two year contract…if this is a final decision, I am wondering if you will offer people an opportunity to exit their contract without penalty in order to resume these channels with another carrier?
We recently exited from Metrocast in favor of TDS but have a certain loyalty to these stations as you can understand.
I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Sincerely, Mary Faria
