Introducing the TDS TV Companion App!

It’s a great time to be a TDS TV customer.

We recently launched the TDS TV companion app, a free mobile tool that takes your TV viewing experience to the next level.

Forget to record Monday Night Football or a big season premiere before you left the house? With our new app you can record programming from anywhere with your Internet-connected tablet or smart phone.

Worried a game might go into overtime or extra innings? You can extend your recordings up to three hours past their scheduled end time.

Our new app also serves as a hands-on guide and remote control in your home. Browse through channel options on your tablet or phone and keep your TV screen clear of clutter. When you find what you want to watch on your mobile device, tap that channel on your phone or tablet and your TV will follow suit.

Programming is a breeze to find with the new TDS TV app and its search feature. Use the keyboard on your smart phone—or better yet, your tablet—to type in the show you’re looking for.

To start using the TDS TV app, download it from the Apple App Store  or Google Play by searching for “TDS Companion App.”

For more information about the TDS TV companion app, check out our online User Guide or watch this how-to video on all the app’s capabilities.

Happy TV watching!

I’ve downloaded and installed the app on 2 different devices and neither with get past the pairing stage. It scans and locates my Actiontec receiver but after I click Pair and then Next, I never get a code on the TV screen. Same for all TVs in my house. I have a DVR and 2 receivers. I’ve called tech support and none of them could even offer any help because they have had no training on and know nothing about the app. People leaving review on Google Play are giving it 1 star and saying the same thing. There are no troubleshooting tips at all on the TDS website. Was excited about getting the app but now am ready to dump it. 🙁

Rhonda, I’ve reached out a different team to see if they can give everyone some answers/troubleshooting tips. Stay tuned!

What I really want is TV viewing on my portable device – laptop or phone (while connected to my TDS wifi is fine). Even better yet, I hope to view a recorded program on my laptop or tablet while at home or away. Hinestly, I’m ready to be done with always being stuck going to the “tv rooms” to watch anything.
So, will either of these options ever be available via TDS, or do I have to seek out apps from every network for mobile device viewing?
    Thanks,
    Jenn

The companion app won’t go past the welcome screen. Called TDS for help and the stated it won’t work because my set top box is hard wired to the router. Is this correct?

Jennifer, for now, seeking out mobile apps would be a great option for you. Where we have agreements with the content provider, you can stream content directly from them. We are always investigating ways to make TV viewing better, so I will pass your feedback on to our internal teams!
