Welcome to the first installment of “Seen on Pinterest,” a bi-monthly roundup of our favorite pins and posts from around the interwebs. We’re happy pinners here at TDS, and there’s no better time to start a new series full of pretty pictures than the time of year when your newsfeed is filled to the brim with holiday toys and treats.
One of our favorite trends in recent years is to eschew gift giving among our group of friends and opt for a holiday activity together—an edible items swap, a jingle run, or a big group dinner at somewhere fun and designed for sharing. After all, the holidays are meant for togetherness.
So in that sprit, our first column highlights great goodies to gift or greet guests with at your next holiday soiree. From savory to sweet to spirits, there’s something here for everyone on your list.
Perfect Party
On a snowy day like it has been today, we can’t imagine anything sweeter than cozying up at an Ultimate Hot Chocolate Party. This party featured a delightful array of chocolate and cookie treats, but a hot chocolate bar (find a whole board of inspiration here) is a simple addition to any winter soiree.
Boozy Bits
Holiday parties mean cocktails galore. Be the best guest at the party by bringing a house made or infused specialty drink as a hostess gift. We made our own limoncello (an Italian liqueur made from lemons) this year, and it was a huge hit. But you could also try spiced caramel bacon bourbon, lemon, pineapple and rosemary-infused tequila, or getting the holiday spirit with cranberry vanilla vodka.
Cookie Swap
It’s hard to say no to a prettily-packaged tin of homemade treats, whether you’re swapping them or gifting the goodies as a standalone present. You can buy pretty favor boxes at a local craft store or order online. Here are a few of our favorites that stand up well during a bit of transport:
