Just because it’s summer doesn’t mean there aren’t some great shows and movies at the tips of your fingers. This week brings us one of the year’s biggest hit movies with “300: Rise of an Empire.” On television, don’t miss out on the World Cup action as the USA looks to pull off another upset. New this week on Movies on Demand

300300: Rise of An Empire
“300: Rise of An Empire” doesn’t quite reach the heights of its predecessor, “300,” but the film will score with fans of comic book-style action. Lena Headey, David Wenhem and Rodrigo Santoro return, but its Eva Green who really ignites the screen as the vengeful Persian naval commander, Artemisia. Available June 24.

Winter’s Tale
“Winter’s Tale’ wants desperately to be a transcendent love story, but gets muddled in the process. Still, there’s lots to like in this ambitious film that mixes fantasy, time travel and attractive stars. If you’re a fan of grand romances, this is probably right for you. Available June 24.

Louder Than Words
Hope Davis and David Duchovny star in the true story of parents who are inspired to build a children’s hospital after the death of their child. The film borders on maudlin at times, but the performances and solid direction make for an poignant and moving tale. “Louder Than Words” is a great film for the entire family. Available July 1.
